Why is it that politicians are more socially connected, with more impressive web presences, than businesses?

It really doesn’t matter who you will be voting for, take a look at their website - it will be like a master class in online strategy.

• Interactive components
• Updated news/rss feeds
• Viral components
• Brand merchandising
• Access via multiple technology platforms (including mobile)

I have to wonder, does my candidate “get” me more than my favorite restaurant, dry cleaners, grocery store, attorney, title company, movie theater, office supply store, and all the rest combined?

Is the learning curb really that extreme to master and integrate these technologies?
