Calling All Retailers

This is a call to all retailers… this Black Friday better be outstanding.

Black Friday is less than a week and a half away, and I am yet to see the magic I was promised. The magic that would resolve all retailers woes.

It looks like you will have more of us out purchasing next Friday, but as far as I’ve found, the innovation was to start holiday and Black Friday purchasing early. However, that is not an innovation, it is a threat to retailers in the long-run.

You all had a nice Nash Equilibrium going there for a long time. Then a few of you had to ruin it for all and start doing pre-Black Friday, Black Friday sales. Sorry, it doesn’t work that way. You cannot have your cake and eat it too.

The point of Black Friday hinges on the fact that it is on Black Friday – not before, not after. A mass exodus from the standard quo ruins it for everyone.

Do yourselves a favor… participate in Black Friday… but also do it smarter than your competition. Don’t hurt a good thing for everyone involved.

Be the entrepreneurial marketeer we all know you can be!
