You can see that your competitors have a website, but are they really working an internet strategy? Here is how to tell.
You obviously cannot get inside your competitors head, but you can address some basic questions that help indicate if your competitors have put forethought into their web presence.
- Does your competitor have external inlinks to their site? Is the percentage to the front page almost all of them? To answer, visit Yahoo’s Site Explorer
- Is each page of the site individually optimized, or just the front page? To answer, visit SE-Inspector.com.
- Does your competitor monitor his/her traffic flow? To answer, view the source code of the page to find trace code from Google Analytics or other software.
By determining exactly what your competition is doing, you should have a better understanding of how to compete more effectively against them.
