I have certainly been noticing the upswing in online professional networking, here is a list of those sites that are gaining steam.
- LinkedIn.com - The long-term reigning king of the professional social network. I use this site every day, but is especially useful after you incorporate xobni.com into your Microsoft Outlook.
- Plaxo.com - A service I just began using. Mirrors LinkedIn quite closely.
- Ziggs.com - Although I personally cannot stand Ziggs, probably because they’re really trying to nickel and dime you to death, some people have called this service the “next generation” of personal brand management.
- Spoke.com - Spoke received major press when it premiered, but seemed to die almost overnight. Also not nearly as useful as LinkedIn.
- Naymz.com - The Facebook of online professional networking, I shut down my account almost a year ago due to lack of use. I, unfortunately, cannot say if there is any real critical mass with this service at this point.
- Ryze.com - In my experience, just simply awful.
