Put it on Paper

October 15th, 2008 · No Comments ·

One of the most difficult skills to practice as an entrepreneur is focus, and there is only one way to make 100% sure you are focused all of the time.

One of the most common reoccuring mistakes I see entrepreneurs make is believing that a plan kept in one’s mind is a plan that can be executed. Nothing can be further from the truth, plans have to be written down to be effectively questioned, analyzed, thought through and communicated.

Writing down a plan also allows an entrepreneur to more effectively develop his own job description, with the buy-in of those in support positions. Imagine just one day where a direct report says, “wait, maybe that tiny issue shouldn’t be brought to her, she’s working on something more important.”

Dreaming? Maybe. But that is the power of paper.
